All About Heidi

Senior Art Director, Heidi Carlson, celebrated her five year anniversary with z2 this year! She may not be a new face in the halls, but a lot can change for someone in five years. Meet Heidi.

What is the greatest challenge you've been faced with so far?

Recently I just ran my first half marathon I never enjoyed running and even though I would do a few miles here and there as a workout I never thought of actually doing a half marathon. My friend talked me into doing one last year as a destination race in Williamette, Oregon and we ran through all the vineyards. There was a lot of discipline to make sure I did my running every week especially with the long runs that take a minimum of an hour and half each time. Not to mention the mental aspect you endure taking on 13.1 miles.

You punch the clock at 5pm on Friday, where are you off to start your weekend?

Mainly home to relax or out to dinner with a cocktail. What was 10 year old you like?

A reserved kid who played the piano, was in 4-H and was a gymnast.

Do you have a doppelgänger? Of course you do! Which character of theirs best fits your personality?

I am not really sure if I have one. A waitress I once had was obsessed that I looked like Jamie-Lynn Siegler from the sopranos, but I don’t know if I really see it. What’s your anthem right now? Eric Church – Kill a Word Do you have a mantra? Enlighten us!

Breathe. It’s as simple as that. Just a reminder to take a second and breathe whether I need a break from something or if it’s to breathe and take in that moment. We've seen the birth of the internet, cell phones, computers in our pockets and a black president in the last 25 years, what's the next big thing?

Not really sure, but whatever it is, I hope it’s good for mankind.

You have Wisco roots. You live and breathe cheese, #lakelife and Summerfest. What's the most 'Sconnie pastime for you?

You can either find me on a lake paddle boarding, kayaking, boating or just kicking it back with my dog. I am also a fan of festivals in the summer – arts, foods or music. Just to be outside and feel the sun on your face is all I need.

Where is one place you’ve always wanted to go and/or where is your favorite place you’ve ever visited? I would love to go to Australia and Fiji. Ever since my grandfather went as one of his last big trips in life I became kind of fascinated with it and want to take that adventure myself.

If you could have dinner with three people, dead or alive, who would they be and why?

My mom and my two brothers because life is to short and we never think of asking those questions to our loved ones while they are still on this earth.
